Image:  Eastern Cape kids get once-in-a-lifetime opportunity High School learners given first experience on a plane and of London in a charity school exchange.

Twelve students from Ntafufu Senior Secondary School, located in the community of Lusikisiki, in rural Eastern Cape, will be flying to London this evening, as part of a London-based student exchange charity called BOTH (Broaden Out Their Horizons). For all of the learners it will be their first time getting onto a plane, not to mention travelling overseas.

Their objective is to make a difference in the lives of child cancer patients in South Africa.
Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit company dedicated to raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer in South Africa, will channel its love for baking into the fight against cancer ahead of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on 15 February 2017, by hosting and facilitating fund-raising events, hospital visits and their signature ‘Party of Hope’ around the country.   Read More...

Image: Super-mum rhino Thandi gives birth to second calf since poaching Kariega Game Reserve’s miracle rhino Thandi, who courageously survived a brutal poaching in 2012, gave birth to a calf on Tuesday 24 January.

The mother and calf were located using a drone as they were safely hidden in thick bush. They were found on Thursday 26 January, a few anxious days after Thandi was reported missing. The birth of Thandi’s first calf, Thembi (meaning Hope), on 13 January 2015 made headlines around the world. She brought much needed hope to rhino conservationists embroiled in a seemingly losing battle against rhino poaching.   Read More...
